With the size and complexity of its IT environment

introduce an enterprise wide management solution, which
included desktop management, network management, completely
automated and centralized data backup/restore solution.

its large-scale systems management deployment. Tivoli
software was selected because of it offered flexibility
and scalability in complex system environments subject
to frequent changes and it protected the company’s
investment in existing systems and software. After selecting
Tivoli Enterprise management solutions, Ontrack started
the full-fledged implementation of its selected modules.
Today, Tivoli Configuration Manager helps the company
understand the hardware and software configuration of
each desktop, even though the desktops are located in
many distributed locations. This lets KOEL execute analysis
of the current status and estimate utilization of resources.
It also lets KOEL to accomplish systematic management
and standardization from its headquarters so that users
can have the same software applications and versions
and the hardware necessary to run it efficiently.Tivoli
Configuration Manager also enables KOEL to distribute
software applications to clients through the centralized
network – saving money time and human resources.
Tivoli Remote control helps quick and easily resolution
of problems as the administrator can take remote control
of desktops and diagnose the problems. This is more
effective in case of remote locations where there is
little or no expertise/manpower to take care of day-day
operations.
Tivoli Netview provides a efficient Network management
tool for managing the complex and hybrid Wide Area Network
that is a mixture of point to point leased lines, Managed
Data Networks, Virtual Private networks, Wireless links
and Remote access dial-up users. The KOEL network spans
over more than 50 locations spread across INDIA. With
Tivoli Netview, it is now easier to find out which part
of the network needs attention before the users can
start complaining.
Tivoli Storage Manager has addressed the need for
an Automated and centralized data backup solution. KOEL
uses this to centralize the backup of their entire Data
Center comprising Oracle and Microsoft Exchange 200
servers. Tivoli Storage Managers for Mail and Databases
further allow taking ONLINE backup of Oracle and Exchange
2000 data. KOEL can complete backups transparently across
its entire storage media, and extract data from storage
devices and move it easily from one medium to another.
IBM Tivoli Storage Manager offers KOEL a sophisticated
architecture to allow for backed up and archived data
to be automatically moved from one type of media to
another, without having to rebackup or rearchive the
data.
Deployment of Tivoli software has helped KOEL immensely
in addressing their immediate and long-term concerns.
It allows KOEL to do their complete technology management
using one single Interface. Information regarding the
IT infrastructure is available in a database and results
in better utilization of available resources and allows
capacity planning.
Tivoli Inventory keeps track of the hardware and software
deployed while Remote control helps prompt diagnosis
of the problems reported by users, irrespective of their
locations.
